What Trade-offs Are You Making? Pt. 2

Last week, I shared a story about a “free ride” that came with a few trade-offs including too many messages and a long walk.

It got me thinking even more about the trade-offs we make every day, often without realising it.

Last week I was in 3 days of planning with my Mentor and my reflecting shifted from travel to time, money and where I invest my energy.

For me my focus for the last financial year (that closed this week here in Australia) was on revenue.  More clients, more workshops, more booked hours. I hit my goals, Yay.

I realised yet again without a close enough eye on profit.

I also reflected on:

What’s the return on the time I’m spending?

What’s draining energy that no longer gives value?

What could I take out, do without, or let go of entirely?

So I started doing a mini audit. Not just financially, but across the board:

Time:

·        Where am I busy but not very effective?

·        What meetings, calls or commitments don’t serve me (or others) anymore?

·        What would I drop if I stopped feeling guilty about it?

Money:

·        Which subscriptions, tools or services are quietly draining funds without delivering real value?

·        Where am I chasing revenue that costs me more than it gives?

Systems:

·        Am I using tools and tech that match how I work best? Not what others use or think I should use.

·        Could a simpler system free up my headspace (and budget)? Simplicity Scales, Complexity fails.

Energy:

·        Who or what gives me energy — and who/what drains it?

·        Where am I saying yes out of habit instead of intention?

This kind of reflection is uncomfortable (for me anyway) but oh so very powerful as are audits.
It helps me shift from doing more to doing better #Maximizer
From spending to investing.
From filling space to creating space.

And just like with strengths, it’s not about doing things the “right” way (I am not sure there is one) it’s about doing them your way.

So here’s your nudge for the week:

What could you stop, simplify, or streamline without compromising what matters?

What’s taking more than it’s giving?
And what do you want more of… if you made room?
